The Tea Room
Davenports Tea Room opened Nov 2007 and is styled on a quaint old English Tea Room with antique lace table cloths and bone china tea services. We serve a wide range of JA Atkinson's and Taylor's of Harrogate speciality loose leaf tea and artisan coffee and delicious locally made homemade cakes. Regularly on offer is one of Katja’s Gold Award Winning carrot cake made by Duncan Poyser and Belinda's fresh homemade spelt scones, made to her Grandmother’s 1930's recipe served with Cornish clotted cream. As the scones are made in small batches and are very popular, call us in advance if you want to guarantee the availability of enough for you and your party. In fact we have been known to discuss scone preferences with customers before their walk, so that they are ready when they get back.
For special occasions, we serve traditional Afternoon Tea served on the old fashioned china tiered cake stand, a choice of delicate sandwiches with the crusts cut off and a selection of locally made homemade delicious cakes. Afternoon Tea should be booked at least 24hrs in advance.
If you are joining us for lunch we can offer you a range of delicious light lunches – for more details check out our menu. We try to ensure that we can cater for special diets such as diabetic, gluten, wheat or dairy free and vegan, particularly as we stock such products in our farm shop, but it is best to call us before hand and in case we have a group booked in, may we suggest that you call us so we can discuss you requirements.
Due to our location, we can have people arriving from a walk as we are situated within the Weaver Valley Regional Park; or cyclists as we have two cycle routes passing close to us, holidaymakers using the A49, boaters using the River Weaver or Trent & Mersey Canal and local people.
The tea room now comfortably seats 28 inside with additional seating in our tea garden, though it’s best to call us in advance if you are visiting us as a group. We have built our customer base on repeat business and recommendations, with some customers travelling from as far away as Leominster, however we situated only about 30 minutes from Liverpool or Manchester.
The Alice Room opened in April 2009 and is themed on the story of Alice in Wonderland. It is available for private functions and business meetings and comfortably seats 15, however this will depend on the configuration. It is in a great location with good access from the M56 and it also has Wi-Fi internet access.
At certain times of the year we have special events such as our Mad Hatters Tea Party, Victorian Christmas and demonstration evenings to name just a few. Check out the events page for more details.
