About Us

The Davenport family has been trading in the Cheshire area since the early 1930's initially as a reputable baker and confectioners, then greengrocer and grower of quality flowers and plants. Between 1947 and 2006 they focused on growing flowers and plants and developed the floristry business. During this period they had four flower shops (Haslehursts; Tomlinsons; Davenports Florists in Hartford and Davenports Florists at the Nursery).

By 2006 the business had been brought back to the Nursery at Bridge Farm and in Dec 2006, the farm shop opened. By April 2007 it had won its first award for Best Rural Retailer and since then it has gone on to win many other awards.

Davenports Tea Room opened Nov 2007 and is styled on a quaint old English Tea Room. They serve loose leaf tea in bone china tea services, offer artisan coffee and the home made cakes are delicious. Afternoon tea is a special occasion and must be booked in advance.

Historically, Bridge Farm was a famous cycling café and hostel prior to 1950's on the old A49 and was the first place in the UK to serve Chicken in a Basket, when Hank and Eileen Day rented the farmhouse.

Visiting the farm shop has often been likened to visiting an Ironbridge period shop as it has been sympathetically fitted out using antique and old furniture, some of which has been in the family for years.
