News & Events
Cheshire Food Trail is now live and we are pleased to tell you that we have already received visitors on the trail of good food. If you haven’t investigated the concept check out the website or call in for a guide.
Coming soon is our own Living History Event. Basically on Sat 27 & Sun 28 June, we will be having Medieval Campers in our top field. They are going to be demonstrating what it was like to live during that period. Old English cookery demonstrations, have-a-go-archery, mock battles to name but a few things that will be going on over the week-end. Our chef Jason Palin will be holding an old English Cookery Demonstration replicating the recipes cooked out on the field but in a modern kitchen. Particularly useful as most people use cookers these days! There will also be a hog roast, so that in itself is well worth adding this event to your diary/phones.
Don’t forget if you still haven’t got your hanging basket if you’re quick Ian will still be able to make it but the plants are selling fast. Don’t leave it any longer!
And finally, did you know that our Tea Garden is now open. If the weather is dry you will love it, especially after one of the lovely Weaver Valley walks in this area or cycle routes or even bridle paths. Did you know we are on the biggest circle non-road bridle path in Cheshire?
Forthcoming Events
Medieval Living History Weekend Sat 27 June & Sun 28 June 2009
What's happening you ask, well basically, we will have Medieval campers in our top field, who will be demonstrating the sights, sounds and smells of Medieval Life! Smells you say...well good ones. Firstly, they will be demonstrating Old English cookery and the recipes sound fantastic, maybe hard to replicate in a modern kitchen but we will have that covered. Our chef Jason Palin will be on hand to replicate the recipes in our farmhouse kitchen. What else are they doing you ask? Have a go archery, mini battles and a hog roast in fact all sorts. Call us in you want to know more.
Cookery Demos
Our next cookery demonstration will be held during our Medieval Living History Weekend (dates above). Mouth watering old English recipes will be cooked on an open fire as part of the living history event. Unfortunately due to health & safety restrictions the general public will not be able to sample these, though the members will sample them on your behalf. As not everyone cooks on an open fire these days we will give you an opportunity to attend a cookery demonstration with our chef Jason Palin who will be replicating the old English recipes but in a modern kitchen. We have started taking bookings for this event so if you are interested please contact us as soon as possible. After this event full details of the next range of cookery demonstrations will be available from September.
